About Us

Hi everyone, and welcome to Snippit Sports Science Podcast.  As a quick introduction to the podcast overview, our goal is to review and discuss relevant sports science articles.  Designed to give you a “Snippit” of the article we aim to review it in about 10 minutes.  We see that as a good amount of time to get a feel for the article – plus we know how valuable your time is.

The concept originated through a want to read more applied sports science journal articles.  As we both are quite busy, we thought of a way to ensure that we read articles but also spend time to discuss it with a fellow colleague.  Hence we thought that we would take it to the next level and package it in an audio format.

THE TEAM:

The team behind Snippit Science is Chris Gaviglio (@ChrisGaviglio) and Jared Coleman-Stark (@Jared_CS).

A little bit about us…

Chris Gaviglio

I have been working as a strength and conditioning coach in elite sport for over 15 years working across multiple Olympic sports and professional football codes in both the northern (Bath Rugby) and southern (Wallabies and Gold Coast SUNS AFL) hemisphere.  I currently work at the Qld Academy of Sport and also as the Physical Performance manager for the Queensland Maroons Rugby league team.

Employemnt history Gaviglio2

During my time in the UK (Bath Rugby), I was involved with UKSport in multiple applied sports science projects. My major project involved monitoring salivary hormones (testosterone and cortisol) responses to competition and training in rugby union. This work is now currently being formalized into a PhD, which is almost complete. Chris has several papers already publish as a result of this work and other collaborative work with other applied sport scientists.

Sports Rehab Tourniquet

I also have a passion in the area of Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training.  I started using them approximately 10 years before they really became of prominence in the training arena. Hence I found a gap in the market where few people sold them.  Hence I now sell BFR cuffs and aptly named it the Sports Rehab Tourniquet (SRT). I am now onto version 2 of my cuffs.  Please visit my website, www.sportsrehab.com.au where you will be able to buy these cuffs, find out more general information about them as well as view other products that I have designed.
